Ski Llandudno

At the top end of Happy Valley, built on what was once the Wyddfyd Golf Course, you'll find Ski Llandudno. It is the town's very own 'Perma Snow' 200m long dry ski slope, along with the Ski Lift, Cresta (Toboggan) Run, Alpine Adventure Golf and the Sno Tubes.

If you're not feeling quite so energetic, there is also the Alpine Lodge, serving hot/cold food & drinks all day. There's also a great outdoor balcony area to sit out on and watch all the activity below when the weather is pleasant.

Opening Times: It is open from 10am to 10pm every day (except Christmas Day). The car park can only be accessed by driving up the steep road through Happy Valley (take the turnoff opposite the entrance to the Grand Hotel).

55 Diner

I paid a visit to the 55 Diner in Llanddulas this morning.

It was originally built as a Happy Eater, then became a Little Chef. When Little Chef entered one of their periodic states of financial crisis, this branch was closed down and it remained empty for a while. Then a local businessman took it over and reopened it as the 55 Diner.

I've been here many times and the reason I visit is simple...it offers first rate food and drink at a reasonable price. When I was leaving today, I heard another customer saying that they had been really surprised at how good their food was, much better than they had been expecting. It's a world away from the half hearted attempts at food and service provided during its Little Chef days.

People often ask me where exactly it is. It's next to the Shell petrol station at the Llanddulas interchange of the A55. You head for the petrol station and, at the entrance, turn right down a road into the 55 Diner car park.
