I found this old photo from about 2005 recently, it shows a vain attempt by an amusement arcade owner to conjour up the spirit of Las Vegas...in Rhyl. I've always seen it as symbolic of Rhyl's sad decline as a seaside resort. The sign, building and funfair behind have all been demolished in the last few years, as part of the Welsh Assembly Government's regeneration plans for Rhyl.
Severe overgrown bushes and tree branches have severely narrowed the public
footpath connecting Powys Road to Criccieth Close. The thick foliage
completely obstructs the walkway, making it extremely difficult to push a
baby pram or walk safely alongside young children. Because the path is
hidden and unmaintained, it is constantly littered with dog fouling every
morning. As an active daily route to Blessed William Davies Catholic
Primary School, this creates an immediate safety and health hazard for
young families and school children. Requesting urgent hedge trimming and
street cleansing., 4th September
